Two hundred Syrian refugees were involved in the project of recycling old UNHCR tents as canvas to express themselves on and raise awareness about the difficult situation of forcibly displaced people.
Refugees could express their feelings through their painting, write poetry, or whatever artistic medium they want to express, related to themes of hope, memories and the impact of war on families. The success of this project is represented by the fact that the tents are now set to be exhibited in locations across the world. The act of expressing themselves through arts on tents have resulted in positive and cathartic impact on overcoming trauma experienced when forced to flee their homes.
